Account & data deletion
This page explains how to request deletion of your Cookbook account and associated cloud data. It is intended for App Store and Google Play account-deletion requirements.
What can be deleted
- Your signed-in account (authentication identity).
- Cloud-synced recipes, menus, shopping lists, family membership data, and profile fields stored in our backend.
- Recipe images stored in our cloud storage for your account, when applicable.
Local-only data on your phone (recipes that were never synced, or data remaining after uninstall) is removed when you uninstall Cookbook or clear the app’s storage in system settings. We cannot remotely wipe unsynced local files.
How to request deletion
- Open the Cookbook listing in the App Store or Google Play and copy the developer contact email shown there.
- Send an email with subject “Cookbook account deletion”.
- Include the email address you use to sign in to Cookbook (and, if known, your user id).
- Confirm that you want your account and cloud data permanently deleted.
We may ask for a short verification step so we delete the correct account.
What happens next
- We aim to complete deletion of account and associated cloud data within 30 days of a verified request (often sooner).
- After deletion you will no longer be able to sign in with that account.
- Some limited records may be retained where required by law (for example fraud prevention or tax/accounting) for the legally required period only.
- Active subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google — cancel them in your store account settings if you no longer want to be billed. Deleting the Cookbook account does not automatically cancel a store subscription.
Delete content without deleting the account
You can remove individual recipes, lists, and related items inside the App. That is separate from full account deletion.
